When I'm stuck in airports waiting to clear security, I always sneak a peek at what laptops are being pulled out and who the owner of those laptops are. And I know I shouldn't but I totally judge people based on their laptop choice. I can't help it! The moment I see a new MacBook being placed into a plastic bin, I automatically think trendwhore. When I see an older Dell, I think he's a practical person who doesn't fret about the little stuff but sucks at the Internet. A Sony? Dumb and rich. Folks with Toshiba laptops? Bought it at CompUSA years ago. Any sort of netbook? Tech nerds. It seems like the group of laptop owners I judge the least are HP owners. They're inoffensive and functional machines that don't come with any stink attached. That's why if you're buying a laptop you plan to bring on trips with you, get this $488 14.5" HP dv5t Core i3 (originally $600) so I won't judge you. -CC More »
